Weigh-In #3

Well I said goodbye to the 140's....but not forever. In fact it was only about 1 minute.
I stepped on (first thing in the morning of course) 139
I stepped on again after I brushed my teeth: 139.4
After my shower: 140.0

I do this, not because I'm obsessive, but because I've been blogging ranges - and I always have a broad range each day.

So there you have it, another 1 to 2lbs lost! And this week I am mighty proud of myself, because it took a matter of 3 days. I'll be honest - I was not logging in meals or paying attention to WW points the first 4.

I had playdates to attend for the kids, which meant chips, dips, wine and everything else. EVEN blueberry cobbler.

Then there was a baby shower. Yes, I hit the veggie tray, and YES i hit the adorable cake with the oliver look-alike in the icing. And yes, more chips and dips to be had. 7 layer dip to be specific.

Then after that I had to go to Chicago for a business meeting where I was gone for 2 days/1 night and it's incredibly hard to know you're way around a menu so soon after starting weight watchers. (I'm still getting the hang of it). Nor did I particularly want to.

Then the first day back I was just kinda BLAH and well, hungry. Like ALL day. But I shaped up after that. And it's been close to a month since I've been able to go to pilates or do any exercise at all.

Total Loss: 10-11lbs
....what is it 3 or 4 weeks? Not bad!

**REMEMBER: You are always someones goal weight.....

Will not offend....

It's obviously ASTROS day at the hospital. Or is it?

but just LOOK at us.

Man in the shadows

I just got my second huge laugh from this recent memory. I was on my way home from the store the other day, trying to talk to the constantly interrupted, busy dad, at home. Finally he just had to let me go, but I later got a picture text to explain the abrupt goodbye.

Kiran says, "dad can you turn the light on in the hallway? There is a big face in there"
That would probably blow any parents mind, but it turns out to be a GIANT shadow.
Laughing yet?!
I love my kids.

Time to map out birthday celebrations

Coop is turning 4 yall! This comes about on the 5th of July so now it's time to arrange the party. I feel as though I've promised so much, and I want to live up to at least a 4th of it, assuming she remembers that much was cast iron.
i'll take you on a photo recollection of her 3rd birthday. It was a superblast, other than me being pregnant in during summertime.

She's lucky enough every year to witness the magic of fireworks the night before her birthday. That must be moderately cool, right?!

Our big gift last year was #2 1/2 Walling "the house", where the full goal was to move her out permanently. (joke). With the weather here, we've hardly enjoyed as much as I invisioned this last year.

She also had the oppertunity to flirt with her attractive, but spoken for, buddy Sy.

And of course celebrated at home with friends and family!

The TEEF are back!

Back when jokes were flying about smiling with my mouth open vs. closed, some of my girlfriends had similar smile preferences. One of them says NO teeth, the others says "come on, show me some teeth!"

Who's to say who is right in all of this, but I've posted some pictures because we all look adorable anyways!

**By the way...there are like far too many dimples in this post. What would happen if Oliver had been around adding 2,000 more?! haha.

I can't hide the excitement!

I got to spend the morning at Helms filling out paper work...and I'll get to more of that in a minute.

Helms is the new DUAL LANGUAGE MAGNET SCHOOL Kiran got accepted to about 2 months back. We are thrilled, and I think she will be too. There is so much at her fingertips here with books, teachers, and everything that surrounds her.

I took a picture of the school as I walked up this morning (with my phone, sorry) and I'm telling you, it felt like MY first day of school. I get a great feeling when I walk into the building. Perhaps I'm just excited about higher education and all the new wonderful friends.

This is an aweful pictures of hte pre-k room. it's about the size of my house in actuality, and there are fully loaded bookshelves on every wall. cusions, colors, projects and everything else. and guess what was missing?! A TV! Well, I lie becuase htere was a flat screen hanging, but it clearly isn't something they use [as a babysitter]. The place is fabulous! And I even got to sign some form agreeing to do what I already do, which is "read to my child 30 minutes a day" and agreeing to let them send books home. I feel like I should be paying for such a gift!

Hmmm, paying....that brings me back to forms. For some odd reason I had to do the whole application again, including salary information. We were issued the pink acceptance letter, which means tuition free, or scholarship/grant, SOMETHING. So I'm not sure why this is all being considered once again. I will have a firm answer tomorrow, but I can't help but worry something has changed. Tuition is high so we may make other decisions, but we'll be keeping our fingers crossed! If for some reason we are denied, I'd be pretty upset because we missed any chance of applying to a public school as we thought we were already accepted.

Head of PTA at Helms lives around the corner from us and they are the neatest little family. We scheduled a play date last friday so kids going into the same Pre-K class could get to know each other over the summer. We hoped this would ease the first day jitters. It sort of fell through, but Kiran did make a fabulous new friend who just turned 4. They couldn't be more alike! They were adorable together. In fact, another play date happens at our house tonight! How exciting!

I thought this was funny

Hello from BabyCenter!

One day you'll walk into your baby's room and find that little person standing up, grinning at you. Many 8-month-olds are strong enough to pull themselves onto their feet and stay there by holding on to you or a piece of furniture. A somewhat comical aspect of this wonderful development is that some babies know how to get up -- but not back down again. They will stand and stand as long as they can hold on, and finally either tumble down or cry to be "rescued."

WEIGH-IN #2

Not out of the 140's.....YET!

I certainly was for a few days, but the ones following that I didn't log any meals or pay attention to much. So no one but myself to blame here! Nore have I exercised in two weeks, which play a HUGE factor in all of this. I've been sick, then out of town, then playing catch up.

141-142
This is still far better than the 149-150 I was at when I started. : )

Time to set some mini-goals, as those are much easier to accomplish!
So by Sunday I hope to see 139 and I hope to see it stick! Wish me luck!

i believe i spoke (blogged) too soon friends!

crawler on my hands (on his hands, rather) funny how just hours ago I decided to let you all know it was around the corner, and then I end my night with fighting him off my plate, while sharing of course, and then lowering his crib mattress, and of course worrying about every little thing at his finger tips. And to finish it off, I make just ONE more post to share a video with you all! Congrats pequenito!

Mysterious Mobility!

Well, There have been several occasions where we sit our olly on the floor and he's totally in a new spot when we get back. Is he army crawing? I don't know.

But I do know he is now able to very efficiently get on all fours and move at least one leg. And the beautiful thing of it is - he first did this on fathers day (which was also Ev's 30th birthday). The gift of all gifts! He can also go from the tummy or all fours to a sitting position too, so that's a good milestone to represent all the strength he has. Does this mean I'm soon to long for this fat rolls on his knees? This is like a babies hidden treasure in my opinion. you only notice the knee rolls if they are sitting with their legs strait out. I just need to post pics! I have so many to update you all with.

Of course I'm not really prepared for a crawler yet, but maybe it's just going to take him crawling to force me to find the time to get our house baby friendly. It's just far too little space, far too many things, far too little time. What to do?!

In other news:
Oh how I wish 2 days ago, early in the morning I wished it were Friday and my Weight Watchers weigh-in. I hit 137 on the scale! Definite water retention but how long has it been since I've seen the 130's? And how sad it feels to think about that. But this diet is uplifting and still going the way I want it to! 137 is a 12lb loss, and I know I'm not really there today, but where am I exactly?! You'll have to wait until in the morning to find out........

((((HUGS)))))

WEIGH-IN #1

Today is the day, and I won't talk about the ups and downs I had. Maybe I should just to show you what I lost TWICE! I think I gained nearly 6lbs back!

I decided to weigh-in bright and early so it's sort of like cheating because I haven't eaten yet.

But this morning the scale said 140.8!! I'm sure later it could be as much as 141 or 142. Either way, as of 7am it was another 2lbs lost which was my goal to begin with. Lets hope next week I can say goodbye to the 140's! FOREVER.

Total Loss: 9lbs-ish : )

Today, the fam and I area heading off to www.7aresort.com to "camp". You already know my definition of camp. It means A/C, a stove, beds, NO mosquito's, and a safe place for the kids to swim.

To a good weekend.

Decisions

my FIRST decision was that I was far above a comfortable weight for myself
my SECOND decision was to do something about it
my THIRD was to join Weight Watchers
my FOURTH was to share my progress with you.

I decided on WW for several reasons. For one, I have known lots of people to go on it and find a bit of success with it. I didn't even look into it when I first heard, but then when I realized I had gained about 9lbs somewhere in the last 3 weeks I put the breaks on. How did this happen?! I just had a baby 8 months ago and I'm supposed to be going down a few sizes, not up One. So my husband mentioend WW again just to check out. I did.

The first thing that hung me in there was the testimonials and message boards. I am not too happy when I visit a website and read a testemonial from some perfect stranger and not have the ability to ask them questions. You can't possibly believe that success is real. With WW, you can talk to anyone , watch them reach there mini-goals, then go beyond that, etc. It makes perfect sense!

One other thing that really had me going was the varieties for a vegetarian - or anyone with specific diets they've practiced for years. I'm going on 14 years of the veggie diet and love it.

The kicker though: I had NO IDEA I was eating way too many calories per day. I really had that mentality that if I eat healthy foods and even healthier foods than that, I'd be alright. When I started looking into the points system and figuring out what I should be eating in order to actually burn calories instead of store them as fat - I was beyond shocked.

So, yes...this will be struggle. But I'm already winning this battle. I will do weigh-in's once a week so the pressure is ON.
I began pilates 1 month ago, so my results are a combination of diet, exercise and hopefully the proper amount of sleep - as that plays a HUGE part in all of this.

Last Thursday I just began this system and here's the results already!:
************************************
May 29, 2008 Weight: 149-150
June 05, 2008 Weight: 142-143

That's a 7lb loss, folks! YIPEE! And what I absolutely love about pilates, aside from the fact that my arms are so sore i can hardly type right now, is that my love handles have nearly fully melted. Yes, I still look pregnant, but I'm working on that baby gut too.

Now that this is out there, the pressure will set in! Although, I think just focusing on myself I've done pretty well. I don't expect to lose 7lbs every week, but I think mini-goals will be about 1-2 (hopefully 2).

Here's to "sort of" starving....I mean working my butt off!

Cheers.

Rocker!

So the baby I thought would probably run before crawling has been up on his hands and knees doing the whole rocking back-and-forth thing for over a week. This could mean he'll be mobile soon.

And you know what that means...we should have child proofed YESTERDAY. Or weeks ago for that matter.

compliments of *Gammy*

2 more fantastic pictures worth showing! Gammy took these over Memorial Day weekend at her home. I love them, don't you?!
