Happy 2nd Birthday Oliver!

Our cake!

Daddy did the baking I did the decking....

Oliver & Jaxson's joint party!

Here are a few pics from the party we threw the boys at school. Michael thanks for bringing additional goods and helping out! And props to daddy for baking an awesome cake, which I had much pleasure decorating.
I think Jaxson got a little shy with all of the attention, but I think is birthday pout is one of the cutest things I have seen.

ODE TO LAZINESS

Yesterday I felt that my ode wouldn't
get up off the ground.
It was time, it should
at least
show a green leaf.
I scratched the earth: "Get up,
sister ode"
--I said to her--
"I promised to produce you,
don't be scared of me,
I'm not going to step on you,
ode with four leaves,
ode for four hands,
you'll have tea with me.
Get up,
I will crown you among the odes,
we'll go out to the sea shore
on our bicycles."
Nothing doing.

Then,
high up in the pines,
laziness
appeared naked,
she led me off dazzled
and sleepy,
she showed me on the sand
little broken pieces
of material from the ocean,
wood, seaweed, stones feathers of seabirds.
I looked for yellow agates
but didn't find any.
The sea
filled all spaces,
crumbling towers,
invading
the coasts of my country,
pushing forward
successive catastrophes of foam.
Alone on the sand
a ray opened
a ring of fire.
I saw the silvered petrels
cruise and like black crosses
the cormorants
nailed to the rocks.
I set free
a bee writhing in a spiderweb,
I put a little stone
in my pocket,
it was smooth, very smooth
like a birds' breast,
meanwhile on the cost,
all afternoon,
sun and of wrestled.
Sometimes
the fog was pregnant
with light
like a topaz,
at other times a moist
ray of sun fell,
and yellow drops fell after it.

At night,
thinking about the duties of my
fugitive ode,
I took off my shoes
by the fire,
sand spilled from them
and right away I was falling
asleep.

Adorable Olly

Look at munchkin holding his Gammy. I mean his "gammy penquin". There hasn't been a night in the last 4-5 weeks that he hasn't slept squeezing that thing. Poor Pops the elephant got a little "potty" on him so we're about to wash him. In the meantime I found a smaller elephant so we're calling him "baby pops" and it's working as a great substitute!

my last family "da bearz"

man, i had some huge arms back then!...and wasn't this before I even had a kids?! Yikes...

just ran across these pics and with good laughs, I am posting them. momma's meoWcifer days. who knows, maybe one day i'll make a return to the stage!

...or if we go even further back to the squares....

'weather' or not

It felt pretty amazing outside this morning when you weigh it against what our last few months have been like. It was somewhere in the high 60's (that really depends on your forecast source) and that's enough for a few goosebumps when you're in a skirt and sleeveless blouse. I absolutely love this time of year when each little cool front offers you a 2-3 day break from the intense heat. Then as it warms back up a little you know that you still have something to look forward to.
I find myself getting outside more, and obviously this is good for the kids. Over the weekend we went to the beach for a few hours plus had a dinner / pic-nic in our backyard that went on forever. Daddy made some brilliant pesto with basil from his garden! I can't wait to share some pics we took...just give me a few days.
It doesn't seem like we had a long summer at all. Wasn't late winter and early spring just yesterday? I mean Kiran was out of school, then right back in, though I'm sure that felt like ages for a little thing like herself! But generally speaking, I think the time is just flying by. Yes I'm enjoying the weather and have really been waiting for it...but in a few months I'll probably have forgotten the entire summer. This time last year we were all busy and excited thinking about Jaclyn and Nate's wedding, and those memories are still pretty fresh. At least I haven't let it all slip away as I "Go through the motions" each day. Now, let me get back to watching the rain! toodles!

.....I can't count how many times I've heard your name since leaving yesterday. That little boy is head over heels! On the way to school he must have called your name out about 20 times. What a sweet little thing.

Great weekend and I really hope Grandma is feeling better. I love you guys.

Grandparents Day at school!

Gammy,Kiran is overjoyed that you, and maybe Grandma Betti, will be coming down for lunch in less than two weeks.
For those of you wondering "why just lunch?", it's just a day reserved for grandparents to join the kids at school for lunch. What a remarkable set she has, travelling all the way down from dallas to make sure she has someone next to her at the lunch table. It makes me teary!

Glasses on the Way!

I sure looked like a zombie after they dilated my eyes huh? LOL. Unloaded another $450 at target but this time it was ALL FOR ME! I'm so happy to have glasses again. Well, I say have, but they're expected to come in by Friday. I did an eye exam, then bought frames and lenses for regular AND sun glasses. Sort of a late birthday present to myself; i had been saving it for a while now (2 whole months).
Relief! I no longer have to feel like I'm living in another world. One that is bleary and vague.
