Weigh-In #6

Monday's weight was between 134.4 and 135.5

nearly 2 lb. loss

I have since gained between 1 & 3 lbs which I'm fighting to get off so that I can be less than 135.5 come Monday.

That will be a struggle with the office Holiday party coming up. Brazilian Buffet at the Four Seasons Resort and alcohol, etc - you know what that means! POINTS POINTS POINTS! TRIPPLES DIGIT POINTS! ha ha ha ha.

Weigh-In #5

I wish I were hear to report my weight as of Saturday morning, which was 135 even. The consistent "jump" that visits each week threw me to 139 and then I had to work super hard to get back down as usual. At least this time it worked!!!!

I'm down nearly 2lbs this weigh-in: 137

I've been told it's not likely my Mirena but I haven't been to an OBGYN about that yet. All I learned with bloodwork was that my vitamin D levels are low so I'll be getting supplements for that. It was also suggested that I check into my addrenal glands. Someone's thyroid my be doing it's job, but there is communication between thyroid and your addrenal glands and this can cause the same symptoms as hypothryoidism (underactive thyroid). Just another option of what to look into when I get the "everything looks normal....EXCEPT YOUR WEIGHT GAIN...comment from doctors! LOL!

Aquarium birthday video

Whoa! This is anctient! Not sure why it was never posted, though! :(
about 3 seconds into this video, kiran dropped her swan toy and doll in the water with the sting ray. Much fun fishing them out.

Post Tofurky Day Weigh-In #4!!

I titled this post this way because when I did WW many years back I had the same post title!

Another gain! I can definitely attribute some of my gain to about 3 of my 7 days. I figured I was going to gain my 5lbs regardless of all the hard work and constant tracking so I just made sure to enjoy the holiday despite it all!

Weigh In: 138.6!!!!! Yikes!

At least it's not 142 anymore. Still not giving up!
And I should have results in from my blood work very soon. I imagine they will tell me nothing because I have no other symptoms to really blame this on hypothyroidism. It's still good to check so I did, but I fear I will not get any answers at all. That will leave me baffled and I don't know what I can do to fight this. I'm not the type to starve myself to be thin. Not when all my efforts go into EATING - Healthy! :)

This worked for me before and the fact that it's not working now to beat whatever else is going on makes me wonder if I will really have any luck getting it off.

You'll hear back from me next week! Wish me luck!

Weigh-In # 3

136.4

Battling the typical despite staying within my points allowance. :( I technically lose an average of 2lbs every week, but then one day during that week I continue to see that jump with no obvious cause.

Go figure! I'm doing all that I can! I think I can turn the 3-5lb gain into only 1-2 lbs if only I could find time to exercise. What mom who gets home at 6:30 with 2 kids has any time to do that, though?

I'm sure there are some supermoms out there who could tell me otherwise.....

Definitely not giving up!

Weigh-In # 2

Saw my usual 3-5lb jump but was able to bring it back down to 135.6  (.4oz gain).

Weigh-In # 1

UPDATE: Official Weigh-In for 11/5/12 was 135.2

As evident over the last 14 months, I am extremely busy and it has been a real challenge to make time for posts. It's not that I've lost interest, but I suppose I can say that I've lost touch. There are few friends I still keep in touch with from Houston, and the distance that has been put between me and many of them has doubled it seems. But I don't guess I'm missing out too much since it happened so naturally. The ones that really count are still there...and you know who you are!!!

All that nonsense above was really supposed to be an explanation of why I'm late doing my weigh-in. I started WW on a Friday but I set my weigh in days on Monday because I did it last time and it made the most sense.

That first week was pretty good. I think I lost about 2 pounds, but guess what happened next????? I gained about 7!!! You read that right. I can say that about 3 lbs of it was water weight but that means that mystery where I put on weight in like 3-4 lbs without changing a single thing is still occuring. Only this time I did change something.....my diet! I'm a gal who already eats pretty healthy, have been a vegetarian for almost 20 years, and enjoys snacking on raw Brussels sprouts. Me going on a diet speaks volumes about how contentious I am about what I put into my body. I've tracked my points, I haven't cheated a bit and I take track honestly and consistently throughout the day. And it's working and I feel a difference but then that strange gain occurs again! I've been to one of my doctors recently who was also concerned. And he wasn't upset with me for the fact that I stopped taking all of my medications all at once so that could also rule that out. He agreed that it's not a normal gain...not one we can attribute to stress, metabolism, and especially not diet. I've been given paperwork to take to a lab for bloodwork to rule out hypothyroidism, etc. I'll let you know those findings, if any, when I get the time off work to get that blood drawn. (downside to no longer working for a hospital, eh??)

So, for those of you skimming, I started weight watchers at about 137/138 lbs. I got down to 134.4 after 5 days, and then it shot all the way up to like 142!!!! My official weigh in last Monday was like 137 again because of all that fluctuation. It was after that that it went up another three pounds as I can almost predict these days! But I've stuck within my points allowance and have brought it back down. I have another official weigh-in tomorrow morning and I'm thinking I'll see about 135.4 on the scale. We will see! At least I know the WW thing still works for me when I need it! If I could just figure out these random gains then all would be well! There is no guarantee that I won't sky rocket up a good 5 lbs after weighting in with a decent 2lb loss for the week.

I'm not going to stress it too much. Right now I just want to fit my suits and business clothes for work and then I'm completely satisfied with losing a pound or so each week until I reach my goal weight.

Wish me luck!

And very importantly, if you didn't get the opportunity to go vote early,  please do everything you can to make that happen this Tuesday. We are taking our kids with us again so they can have that experience of voting. I think it's important that they stay involved and aware.

I will try to post my weigh-in in the morning, but there is a chance I'll be a little late again!!

Cheers!!!

Where have I been? What have I done? ....How much have I gained?!!

So, I'm back for selfish reasons. I'm back for accountability. Many years ago, I had to battle uphill to lose the baby weight from both kids that stuck to me no matter what I adjusted. Well, at least until I did Weight Watchers online. And I always think that one of the biggest things that helped me stay motivated was getting on here for my Weekly Weigh-Ins! I mean I lost about 40lbs in just a matter of months. And i knew that when Weigh-In day was coming that I better get my butt in gear so I could post with no shame! And somehow I'd really buckle down...more like craming for a test so that you can ace it - only this was still a healthy way of losing so it was weight that truly stayed off. So I didn't have to worry like that EVERY week and I continued to see progress. That healthy kind of average of 1-2lbs per week. Sometimes it was the same, sometimes it would go up a tad.

This recent and sudden weight gain could be medical issues for all I know, but I figured why not at least make sure I can rule out diet. I haven't changed a single thing and in just 2 months I've gained just under 20lbs! :-( That's uncommon even for a pregnant girl so trust that I'll be getting my blood work done as soon as insurance kicks in! But I would like to have more to give them than just "I've been gaining like crazy"!

It seems to come in 3's and never goes anywhere. I'm baffled. But determined. And I have a great support system here at work and between the two of us....and me publicly displaying a bunch of numbers that really NONE of you care about...I think I can make a dent in that 20lbs!

So I'm starting here and now...and a whopping 137lbs. That's a lot for my frame. I've been 110-115 for like 27 years of my 31 on this great earth. So, it's what we can safely call the norm for me. This time I won't take any smack from those who tell me i'm too skinny when I reach my goal. It caused a lot of depression last time even though I knew why people would say that. They were either shocked because they went 4 months without seeing me and then I was all the sudden in a size 0-2 and it freaked them out. Or they were jealous. Or any other thing you want to blame it on. But this time, just like last time...i'm doing it for ME. Hubby doesn't mind, no one else minds - just me. So keep the comments to yourself if they're not supportive! :-0

Haha.

Okay, so down to business...I'm tracking away. I'll set goals when I get a clear idea of if, and how much, is going to budge as I track my every ingredient of food that I put into my body!

And so that this post isn't just out-there and annoying, I'll throw in some pics! :-)

We Fell Forever.

In a busy weekend for this city, there was more to do and see than we could keep up with. My sunburn is worn proudly today.
Andrew came to visit Kiran, which if you know my kids well then it wouldn't shock you much that we had a fit (ending in tears) over who was allowed to love him more. How do put out THAT fire?

We kept our numbered hours very action-packed starting out with buzzbrews for brunch, followed by ArtLoveMagic where we created art with other families, sh'd on the turn tables and painted a mustache on the cute little Koops. We skipped out on the the Homegrown Fest where many terrific bands took the stage and opted for the free international gets downtown. I can't say enough how drastically different it is from Houston's version! From there, dinner at anvil and finally home to relax.
Today kicked off with a bikeride tour of our neighborhood and nearby college/bike trail. Lunch was phenomenal at Eno's over in oak cliff, so great we soon found ourselves back in oak cliff for their annual festival. A brief stop at home thrust is into more action! Dinner at Mi Cocina, swimming and cake at Gammy for grandma's "21st" birthday as I call it. That wore us out to no end.

Tomorrow Oliver will be elated to have his first real.playdate in Dallas with a trip to LegoLand, Rainforest Cafe, and perhaps another pool party!

and there you have it....the first stylings of the D that I can offer. The D is treating us well!

A Master now!

I have so many updates I want to make all at once but I am forced to choose which I want to show off!
In a very magical ceremony in a very magical place, Evan earned his masters degree for the Fine Arts. I know we would all love to have a title like that. ;-)
For the past two years I have witnessed and supported daddy's solid dedication to school. I had a very detached perception of what it was all really about but after going with him for his final semester, to watch the graduation, I get it. He was often times holed up in his bubble, writing away, and you have a hard time making sense of it when you aren't a part of it.
Being there, watching the faculty admire him, and finally meeting his mystery friends, made me wish I had gone there sooner!

Another bonus to it all was meeting James franco:......'s Mom! Seriously she is the sweetest lady.

SOLD

We are in the final stages of selling our heights home! We were orginally set to close on February 10th, but in actuality it will be much sooner. All that says to me is that I have to get home and yank my stuff out QUICK! Not that organized type of packing, but more of a slam dunk every item half-hazardly making it impossible to locate the salt & pepper shakers when we cook our first meal at the new home.

Speaking of new homes!
We've made an offer on THIS home: http://www.weichert.com/39991413/?zip=75243&maxpr=205&view=gallery
and are expected to receive our counter offer this morning. I'm sure it will end up being right around the $205 mark anyways...which we're fully okay with. The cathedral ceilings that will make up our music/relax room, combined with $10-$20k updated master spa bath are worth it alone!
Thought I would share some pics at the risk of getting excited FAR too early! We've put a contract on a home here already and things didn't pan out so well. This one could very easily be snatched up too.
