I spotted the UPS truck from my kitchen window and quickly ran to the front door. He was gone before I even had the package in my hand, and he even had time to knock. It is, after all, the busiest month of the year for them.
I was excited when I saw my name on the package but noticed it was from amazon.com so I figured I ordered something online, probably for the wedding, that I had forgotten. But what was in that package was not at all an accessory for my hair, or pretty chain for my neck, or any such thing! It was the most perplexing sight. Was this a gift? was it a joke? "Evan did you buy this? It says Amazon?".... Total confusion clouded us! Scissors! Just so happens they were the same type of scissors that went missing from our kitchen weeks back. I thought, who on earth knew they were gone? Maybe someone knew and wanted to replace them. I hate to publicly admit this...but scissors are missing in your house for weeks and you have a 14 month old running around, and worse, a 4 year old...... I had some concern there.
We was just so bewildered, though. I had to think harder on this. Thinking out loud I told Evan I did at least have an Amazon.com account, which is the same as a Target.com account, but my last purchase or return were the many sizes of bridesmaid dresses.
"That's It!" he exlaimed! "You must have left the scissors in the box when you returned the larger dress, and now they're returning the scissors back to us.
I had a little guilt and denial at first, but we both just laughed it off and gave a big welcoming (distant) hug to the scissors. We'll never let them out of our sight again.
