San Diego

Forever is Forever as the uncle would say.
Our 2 year anniversary is singing the forever song next week but as luck would have it, I am working in San Diego. Evan and I decided that it would be fun to go up early and have the weekend there together to catch some shows, rent some bikes or walk the beach, have some yummy dinners, and sleep in luxury! We're leaving the rising waters and mosquitos behind. And sadly, the kidlings too. But once again, they're in loving hands in Dallas.

Gilbert happened to text me just now to ask me how the married life was. odd, because my anniverary is on the fifth, as the blog title states. I replied that it's better than i ever imagined. when you're little you really have this grand idea that being a wife is like being a princess. i'm growing into that the longer i stay married. :-) he treats me with respect and we're lucky to have each other.

realistic

market must be really down right now. 2500 square feet of awesomeness! it's outside of the loop, but i guess when you don't leave your house too much except weekends that doesn't make a huge impact. 4-5 bedrooms that all have a great view of your backyard. $130k - that's like what i paid for my crappy 2-bedroom 3 years ago. (nearly 4 years ago - wow!) anyways....check it out!

my modest dream house!

get a look at this gorgeous place! you're probably wondering why i was house shoping in the first place, right? well, from time to time i just like to look. and dream. this historic beauty sits in the heart of the heights. a 90 second drive from kiran's school. olivers future school! i imagine having coffee on that porch every morning, the walking both kids to school together in all of 5 minutes that it would take! it's a dream!!!
the best part, the unimaginable part - this place is going for just $200K! WHY SO CHEAP?! It's at Heights Boulevard! This is insane. Yes, it needs updates, but that's also another dream of mine - making it the way I want to. THey're about to clear out the clutter and take new pics and I almost don't even want to look again.

You love it too?!!!!!

post about pee

The potty training really didn't happen this last weekend. I think it's something a lot of parents procrastinate about. But in my defense, I really want to be able to commit to it. Not only that, I want his school to be consistent with me and they've yet to introduce it as promised. It's not like I can just lay out some newspaper and let him scratch and wimper at the backdoor. This is work, guys. WORK! And our elbow grease went into cleaning our house this weekend anyways....

The potty we bought last night mimics our own porcelain throne....he can feel like a man! a little man. pics to come soon!!!!!

A funny: he peed on his car this weekend. The look on his face was something like confusion and horror. He loves that car and later questioned why he peed on it I'm sure.

rainwater, where are you?

why isn't the rain here? not only is the city of houston in need of a downpour, but I really feel like a good cleansing rain could just reawaken my inner moral fibers that feel so sedated right now. how long has it been, seriously? it does sort of feel like the whole city is asleep, though, so maybe i'm not just speaking for myself. or maybe i shouldn't try to speak for everyone else... hmm. i'll think on that.

but yeah, i'm ready for the torrent, where i'll have a cup of hot tea with my husband and maybe we'll watch the baby run around the house naked for a few hours. that's not meant to be taken the wrong way, we're considering a hard core potty training routine this weekend. i guess first we need to buy a potty for that to work out. but don't get me started on all the crap i have to get done that one, or two humans, that have day jobs just can't get done.

rainwater, where are you?

Happy 18 Months Oliver!

He's officialy a year and a half now. (insert sad face here) I will admit it's been the most beautiful thing watching my son grow every day, but I can't say I'm thrilled to watch my little baby turn into a big boy quite yet. I don't understand why they have to grow and develop so fast!

He's really using his words (palabras!) now. Spanish and English mix of course. He's getting better at saying "abajo" to get down. He also uses "down" to get down.....and to get up! silly boy, we'll get there. He's voluntarily saying "Ma mo" which is his translation for "Te Amo" meaning "I love you". "Outside" is becoming much more understandable. And really he's still at that stage where you can play the "repeat after me game". He'll say anything on command and try his hardest to nail every syllable. It's so endearing, you gotta see it in action.

This boy is READY to potty train, and I'm both dreading and anticipating this next step. He tells me almost every time he poops by patting his butt and saying "poo poo". AND, that silly little boy also pats the front and says "poo poo" when he pees! When they're finally tired of sitting in a soggy and poopy diaper and want to communicate that to you, it's a momentous signal to get equipped with a baby potty or child seat fast. I'm fortunate that his montesori school is beginning to assist in the potty training now, instead of waiting until they're 2. That's why we pay them the big bucks! <3

That's about all I have time to say right now. I long to post a video clip of what our morning snuggles look like with him so I can break your little hearts!
