Happy Birthday!

It's 8:01 am and Daddy just entered is 32nd year!

The Cleveland tradition is to stretch out the celebration for several days so that the birthday captain gets to call the shots more than usual. It’s like one of the first gifts!  Gambo and Pops joined us for the start of our revels in the hot, hot heat of Houston. The heights library had a few art cars parked outside and gave kids and opportunity to build their own inside. The idea was, in fact, brilliant! They had $1 cars, simple paint, glue, and about anything you could imagine to stick onto the cars. Kiran’s had a feather and seashells – and YOU WILL SEE A PICTURE TOMORROW! I love it! Oliver wanted to just crash his around, which is what he did all day.

We checked out the new train at the zoo, which was fun. I expected oliver to be a little more thrilled about that because of his recent obsession with trains. Tired maybe.

It doesn’t really sound much like daddy’s birthday but I’m getting there. We finally made it home and after swimming at the hotel so we could do gifts. We have great new tiki torches in the back that are brass / metal – really cool, Thanks Gammy and Pops! Daddy has some more home depot credit and a gas edger on the way! I went antiquing for him and got: two oil paintings, 7-piece decanter/wine-glass set, and this really neat antique whiskey or wine travel box set. It’s unusual, I’ll really have to post some pics of it all. I just loved the way it looked.

We lit our torches last night and grilled some of the best kabob’s ever! Then there was the failed attempt at blowing up the Pirate ship so the kids could swim. Our pump was cracked and neither of us had the energy to sit there and use our mouths. I’m sad we didn’t get that done, they would have had a blast! They enjoyed running around the yard, though! I have some of my favorite pictures to share with you guys and I can’t wait to post them.

Happy 31st Birthday Daddy! I love you

28 days left

There are 2 parts to today and it's only 9 in the morning! I need to re-invent or revolutionize myself more often. Whatever, that's not really what's going on here....I'm just being a little more optomistic.

Part UN

On my way to getting Oliver to school I really had an inspiring little moment of thought. I haven't unearthed these kinds of emotions since the innocent days of highschool. (many thanks to budwiser for a few of those). It's too personal to share in this gaping world of blogland, though. SORRY! :-) ha.

Part DEUX

AT 5 MINUTES AND 6 SECONDS AFTER 4 A.M., ON THE 8TH OF JULY, THIS YEAR, THE TIME AND DATE WILL BE: 04:05:06 - 07-08-09
THIS WILL NOT HAPPEN AGAIN UNTIL THE YEAR 3009 !!! And, THAT my friends happens to be my birthday, and I'm finding something to celebrate about it now!

Until tomorrow....ADIEU

more p p!

in the potty this morning!

Birthdays

First off we have a countdown until Daddy's 31st. OF COURSE I know what I'm getting him! And thanks for all of your emails with ideas for "next years" gifts! :-) ha.

I also have a nephew turning 5 in 3 days, and then his big sis will be 9 on Juneteenth! That blows my mind.

Then our sweet Kiki hits 5 July 5th! I've been calling her 5 for months now so this is going to be a looooong year. I really do need those emails for this one. wink!

I'm not too pleased about what happens three days later...I will be 28. I will be old and ripened. 27 has seemed so far from 30 and I've come to love it for that reason. 27 is still considered mid-20's right? Mid-to-late 20's maybe? 28 is definitly late 20's. 28 might as well BE 30 in my head! I should desert this mindset right here and now because 28 will show up in 3 weeks whether I like it or not. After talking to Raygan a little I realized that I only have 3 more weeks to enjoy 27 and I should make the most of it. Each day should count, starting with today. Maybe you have some unfeigned piece of advice for me on how to grasp each moment that I have left as a young bird!

It starts today.

Day 1: i'm becoming a red head. Geez, this sounds more like a mid-life crises, how pathetic.

P P!

Oliver made his first pee pee in the potty at home today! He does this about 3 times a day at school so I wanted to follow through at home.
He woke up dry this morning so I rushed him into the bathroom where dad was primping. ;-)
He sat, I brought in toys and milk, (spoiled much? NO) and I returned to my own primping across the house. A few minutes later I heard the small cry followed by dad's proud cheer. He Peed!!!!! Bodily functions are eerie for tots, isn't that weird? It's more comforting to pee ON yourself than in the potty. Gross. But hey...GO OLIVER! Lets get some poop now.

this is undeniable!

I was recently kicked off weight watchers, and not for being 110 lbs...which is technically below my BMI. I'm finally maintaining the weight I've been my whole life before leasing my abdomen out for habitually-late-paying fetus' for 18 months. Never again I tell ya! Apparently WW had 3 attempts at charging my credit card my monthly fee and was declined. Um, whoops. So, I'm on my own out here. It's scary to be responsible for my body now. But, it's been exactly 1 year and 6 days since I went into this whole thing, I'd say success has been in my pocket so far.

Plan B
The new diet

Q: Doctor, I've heard that cardiovascular exercise can prolong life. Is
this
true?

A: Your heart is only good for so many beats, and that's it... don't
waste
them on exercise.

Everything wears out eventually. Speeding up your heart will not make

you live longer;

that's like saying you can extend the life of your car by driving it

faster.

Want to live longer? Take a nap.

Q: Should I cut down on meat and eat more fruits and vegetables?

A: You must grasp logistical efficiencies. What does a cow eat? Hay and

corn.

And what are these? Vegetables. So a steak is nothing more than an

efficient

mechanism of delivering vegetables to your system. Need grain?
Eat
chicken.

Beef is also a good source of field grass (green leafy vegetable).

And a pork chop can give you 100% of your recommended daily allowance

of vegetable products.

Q: Should I reduce my alcohol intake?

A: No, not at all. Wine is made from fruit. Brandy is distilled wine,

that means they take the water out of the fruity bit so you get even

more

of the goodness that way. Beer is also made out of grain. Bottoms

up!

Q: How can I calculate my body/fat ratio?

A: Well, if you have a body and you have fat, your ratio is one to one.

If you have two bodies, your ratio is two to one, etc.

Q: What are some of the advantages of participating in a regular exercise

program?

A: Can't think of a single one, sorry. My philosophy is: No Pain...Good!

Q: Aren't fried foods bad for you?

A: YOU'RE NOT LISTENING!!! ..... Foods are fried these days in

vegetable oil.

In fact, they're permeated in it. How could getting more

vegetables be bad for you?

Q: Will sit-ups help prevent me from getting a little soft
around
the middle?

A: Definitely not! When you exercise a muscle, it gets bigger.

You should only be doing sit-ups if you want a bigger

stomach.

Q: Is chocolate bad for me?

A: Are you crazy? HELLO Cocoa beans ! Another vegetable!!!

It's the best feel-good food around!

Q: Is swimming good for your figure?

A: If swimming is good for your figure, explain whales to me.

Q: Is getting in-shape important for my lifestyle?

A: Hey! 'Round' is a shape!

Well, I hope this has cleared up any misconceptions you may have had
about
food and diets.

And remember:

'Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention

of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body,

but rather to skid in sideways -

Chardonnay in one hand - chocolate in the other -

body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and

screaming 'WOO HOO, What a Ride'

AND.....

For those of you who watch what you eat, here's the final word on
nutrition
and health.

It's a relief to know the truth after all those conflicting nutritional

studies.

1. The Japanese eat very little fat

and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

2. The Mexicans eat a lot of fat

and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

3. The Chinese drink very little red wine

and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

4. The Italians drink a lot of red wine

and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

5. The Germans drink a lot of beers and eat lots of sausages and fats

and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

CONCLUSION

Eat and drink what you like.

Speaking English is apparently what kills you.

What's that art?

Oliver had no question about it...these were cars! Maybe seeing movies like Disney's "Cars" with talking 18-wheelers does it for kids these days. Anything with for wheels MIGHT just be a car! Here we all are at the Houston Annual Art Car Parade and every bizarre pile of crap on 4 wheels followed by something modestly artistic that goes by, Oliver shouts "Car! Car! Car!" Hilarious, right? Not..."ooooh, dragon" "Duck" or "Horse" for the carousel car. That boy cracks me up.

Kiran's dad came along with his new gal and daughter lane. She's a total cutie, check her out. Very expressive.
