my little immigrant, my imi. she's gone. we took imi in as a 6 week old kitten so that kiran could have a baby like herself around. she got lost her first day home and we searched for hours only to find her in our dresser drawers. too cute. she continued to sleep there for weeks and i miss her so much that i wish i could go back to that day and snuggle up in a drawer beside her.
kiran and daddy are home today and preparing to paint, draw, and write poems so we can remember her.
Here is Kiran's poem. It's lovely.
En memoria de Inmigrante
How did she sleep
while Dad mowed the lawn
and it was so noisy?
She closed her pretty eyes
and curled up her little body
like a chocolate mint.
Sometimes she would lie down
on the old room bed,
which is now Oliver's room.
She thought of being a black pearl
lying in the sky.
She played with the blue and orange ball
when she woke up from her nap
and it rang like a jingle bell
when she batted it with her paw.
She hissed sometimes and Penelope hissed, too.
In the room I used to have
with Mom and Dad I felt her
and she purred while I felt her.
She sat on the old desk and breathed
with her back up,
a calm tornado against my hand.

What happened to her? Do you still have Penelope? Kiran's poem is cute.
I didn't want to be graphic about it on the blog but Imi passed away...or well, was killed. Unfortuantely Evan and Kiran found her and it was ugly. We think the cats who've been territorial at our house and starting fights did it but they aren't scratched up. The other things that come to mind are too awful to consider.
